In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
In the lower house session held yesterday, Saturday 1/12/2008 the majority voted for the law of (Accountability and Justice).
The CINU perceives multiple gaps that could have been avoided in this law, since it is not of democracy principles not even of the so-called civilized laws to hold the people accountable or punish them for their opinions or beliefs, as this approach is of the totalitarian regimes disadvantages supposed to be rejected by the new system.
It is true that there are some positive clauses in the law that would contribute to the provision of employment opportunities to hundred thousands of Iraqis, in addition to lifting injustice and oppression off a large segment of Iraqi families that have been significantly affected and without plausible reason at all, and were deprived of the right to employment or pension.
Nevertheless, it includes at the same time articles not consistent with the democratic approach Iraq has already chosen, not to mention inadequate guarantees that preclude the selective application in covering or not covering whom should be subjected to law, the current preponderant formula in implementing the de-Baathefication law … and so forth.
On account of that, the CINU, considers this law in spite of its bright sides as insufficient in a number of ways that must be avoided to lift injustice off a large section of the Iraqi people.
