In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
The issue of Saddam Hussein's trial has occupied ample space in local, regional and international circles equally …
And we, in the CINU, similar to the Iraqi people, do not disagree on a substantial issue which is that the trial of any accused involved in crimes whoever that person was, Saddam Hussein and his regime or else, must take its right legal course within the purview of an independent judiciary.
But what the CINU finds fault with the trial course and its sessions, which was followed by millions, not in Iraq only but in the whole world, is that it follows the track of revenge and vengeance, which gave a negative impression about the transparency and independence of Iraqi judiciary under this government.
The CINU rejects investing this sensitive issue which touches on the feelings of all Iraqis however different and politically- incompatible they are.
And if we wanted for this court to be just in all measures, we refuse it to be as a gift to certain entities, but wanted it to be purely national, that makes of Iraqi judiciary a safe haven to which every Iraqi can recourse in need without hesitation or fear, for being impartial, transparent and fair.
